The Super-Producer Jig a.k.a. Jig-strumental, born in Hollis Queens New York. The son of a Jazz musician he followed in the footsteps of his father and grasped learning the piano at the age of 5. At the age of 11 he was playing in front of thousand in packed gyms and arenas at local colleges and made it with his team to Carnegie Hall at a recital for gifted youths. Gifted with the musical skills at an early age, he took on learning various instruments. Dubbed as a musical genius at the age of 14, his dad played a major role in his musical development. He would run various drills and lessons for him to complete while he was away touring or playing for well known artist such as, Santana, Branford Marsalis, George Benson and many more. After years of family issues and constant moves back and forth to Brooklyn and Queen, his parents separated. He found himself taking on the task of pursuing his music without the help of his father, who for years was his inspiration and mentor. The family, which consisted of a younger brother and his mom, soon settled in Hollis Queens, where it all started. His passion for music would soon take him from the Jazz and R&B genre to a fast growing genre of music in the late early 80’s called Hip Hop. Though separated from his dad the skill and passion for music still burned inside so he decided to continue his quest. Hip Hop music had a major impact in the urban culture and his inspiration from local artist such as LL Cool J & Run DMC drew him closer to this style of music. He grew fond of a Hip Hop artist at the time called Rakim, after hearing his debut single, “Eric B for President”. Inspired by the influences of Hip Hop artists, in the projects of Hollis, Queens, he started to rap and took on song writing. The skill and passion for music would lead him to start Deejaying at local parties and clubs, and at the age of 16 he started his first group called, The Gods. He was the D.J. for the group and soon started rapping and composing music. The streets of Hollis Queens were not foreign to the heavy drug trafficking and crime. To make a better life for her and her family, his mom worked two jobs in order to get him and his brother out of the projects. In the late 80’s she bought her first home in the North-side of Queens N.Y. and Jig was now out of the project and away from the bad influences that caused him and his family issue. He started to get heavy into the Hip Hop game and perused his passion for composing music. While in College he interned for, Untertainment, Bad Boy, and Arista Records. He again formed another group called, The Sleep Walkazzz. Who signed an Indy deal with a prominent female producer at the time. Jig studied under her and soon became an apprentice to her production team. Learning from Akia 950 and MPC 2000, he started beat-making and rapping at the age of 19 and never looked back. Soon after the group broke up, frustrated over the politics of the music business. He decided to focus on not only making music, but also the business of music. He began to realize with the ever so changing music game, that starting a label, with his background in business and having interned for other successful labels he had the skills and advantages to start his own. As the President and Co-founder of Supreme Regime Entertainment, Jig the star child/entrepreneur is born. He is currently working on his new CD entitled" The Beat King”, which will be released spring 2008. The CD features a compilation of his hottest beats to date, so be on the look out.
