Raised in the gritty streets of North Pittsburgh, J KUL has been perfecting his craft for years working with various underground artist around the city getting his name out. with 15 mixtapes under his belt, it wasn't until the release of the Aurora mixtape under the stage name Suave when J KUL really began making an impact. His lyrical talent is unlike any others as he focuses his tenacity towards his approach to the Mic. Making his first formal debut on stage at Club Heat performing his rendition of the smash hit "Exhibit C" off his Hottest Summer Ever mixtape, J KUL realized his talent and remained a persistent force to be reckoned with on the Mic. In his efforts to create a masterpiece album, J KUL lost all of his material to a computer crash but that didn't stop him. He continued to pursue his dream of setting off Arena's and large venues attacking the tracks harder then ever. He began an independent movement, The GX Sharks in an effort to build his own fan base of supporters. J KUL's persistence epitomizes the term, "Self Made" as he records his own lyrics and produces many of his own tracks in his mobile home studio. Sleepless nights and visions of success fuel J KUL's fire. It's obvious with an ambition like his, there is no stopping him. “As far as hip-hop being a culture, some people just see it as a chance to be seen on television or stunt, I want everyone to know that I’m coming with real and original music," said J KUL in a 2010 interview with Pittsburgh Couriers Brotha Ash.
