At 19 years old, J. Lye is the newest rapper coming out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He started writing at the age of 13 and started recording at the age of 15. For the past four years, he has been releasing a slew of new material, trying to get his name out there as well as his music. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and still lives there to this day, but currently attends Boston University. He began his career mentored by Boston rapper Kabir Sen, and used the knowledge that he acquired from Sen in order to branch out on his own career path. He is unsigned as of now, but hopefully not for long, and recently released his much anticipated debut mixtape, "Before The World Was Mine" which was released on May 26th, 2009. The first single from the album was entitled "Tears Do Fall" which was followed by the second and much contrasted single "Come With Me", and finally his street single, "Lurpz" was released which featured J. Fizzle & Kid Katastrophe and garnered a great amount of both positive and negative feedback. Currently, he is working on a new mixtape which dives deeper into his life and his passion for music as a whole. J. Lye is recording music because its what he loves to do, and hopes that one day he can share his artistry with the rest of the world, and anyone who is willing to listen. Never let go of your dreams.
