Joe Hehir Bio Joe Hehir is an Irish American, Canadian based singer songwriter who plays jazz piano, guitar, and now and again, the trumpet. Growing up on the U.S. border an hour from both Montreal and Ottawa, he has drawn on a wide array of influences and inspirations from Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan and Harry Chapin, to Ahmad Jamal and Miles Davis. At the age of six Joe began a lifelong quest to understand music and become part of it, in any way he could. At 10 he began playing the trumpet and eventually picked up piano at 17, writing his first song the day the baby grand arrived in his parents Summerstown, Ontario home. Joe attended the prestigious Humber College for the Performing Arts for jazz piano, playing in pit bands and rock bands alike, all the while honing his singing, poetry and songwriting skills. After Leaving Toronto in the late 90’s he was introduced to the early recordings of Bob Dylan and quickly bought a guitar and taught himself to play. In 2008 Joe recorded his first EP ‘Raising Hell’ from which the title track was used on the album ‘Discover 611’, which was sold and distributed for charity. In 2010 he began work on his first full-length album ‘The Move’, released in mid 2011 featuring the songs ‘Sole Release’ and ‘Crying Babies’ both featured on ‘Earbits Radio’. In early 2012 a compilation of previously recorded demos from 2006 was released as the album Guitar and Voice. Joe is currently in the middle of writing and recording his 2nd full-length acoustic album. He says it’s a mix of working man simplicity and positive contemplation. With bigger plans ahead and a new album to push, Joe Hehir has his sights on the American listener and a large folk re-emergence that has been popping up in the Midwest. www.joehehir.com
