In just 4 years, Jon Young & J. Cash have created a loyal, national and even international fanbase with little to no promotion. Their MySpace pages have collectively received over 52 million listens and 200,000 friends. In addition to selling countless digital downloads through iTunes since 2008, they have been distributing CDs on their web site for several years. Jon Young & J. Cash have been approached for deals by Atlantic Records and are recently out of a contract with Defient Entertainment, an independent label under Warner Music. Within a matter of weeks of inking the deal, they were already hard at work in the studio preparing their first major single “Post Up” which featured Asylum recording artist Lil Boosie. Not only did they sponsor the 2007 Ozone Magazine Awards and appear in DJ Khaled’s video for the smash hit “I’m So Hood,” they have performed all over the country including the House of Blues in Orlando, SoBe Live in Miami, Tony Neal’s Summer Jam in Milwaukee and other various shows in Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Ohio, and throughout Florida. Jon Young’s initial music industry exposure came in 2001 as a street team member promoting for dj, rapper, & producer White Dawg (known for the underground classics “Pop A Pill” & “Chevy Boy”). Aside from passing out flyers and selling mix cds around Orlando, Jon also handled graphic & web design for not only White Dawg but other Florida artists & DJs. As an artist and producer himself, Jon Young began to take his own music more serious after being introduced to the industry. His first full-length album, “City I Luv,” was released in late 2005 with its title track as the first single. The track spread throughout Florida in a matter of weeks taking over county by county and soon the rest of the country. For a follow up release, he reached out to his long time friend J. Cash to put together a group album titled “Slept On,” which resulted in an even larger buzz thanks to the now classic singles “Listen To Your Heart,” “Just Chill” and the trend setting area code anthem “City On My Fitted.” As the current highest selling hip hop act in Central Florida, Jon Young & J. Cash continue to reach even further heights with each new release. After just releasing solo albums digitally and on CD in 2009, they have already begun production on their 4th group album, “Rejunivated,” which is slated for a 1st quarter release in 2010. Handling everything in house has played a major role in their success. With Jon Young handling all of the production, engineering, and graphic design, and J. Cash taking care of booking & promotion, they have been remarkably successful at making a living doing what they truely have a passion for. Meeting during their freshmen year of highschool, they would’ve never guessed how far their musical aspirations would take them. Against all odds they have risen to a level most artists only dream of reaching yet they remain as humble as the first day they decided to record a song. There is no one way to describe these two talented artists. Pulling inspiration from all forms of music and life experiences, the only way to really get an idea of what these two are capable of is to take a listen.
