I'm from Kansas, started writing songs about 5 years ago when I was in college. I wrote a little before college, but was still teaching myself guitar and piano, and at a very slow rate. When my skills and understanding of music started to develop, I started writing more. It became necessary, a big part of my life. I had a job right out of college as a supervisor at Target. It drained me pretty quick. Never realized how much you had to fight in this world to do something you were supposed to do. I felt a calling to quit my job that was not doing anything to further me as a person, and left Kansas in January of 2008. Since then, I have lived in Houston TX, traveled around the states for a few months, and landed in Nashville TN labor day weekend of 2008. I'm not a super-star and never will be. I'm a guy who loves to write, sing, and entertain people however I can. It's what I have to do survive. I set this page up because I want to connect with as many people as possible. I hope that my music is heard, and that through your support I will be able to make a living off performing my music. For now, it is what I'm here for; that may change somewhere down the road, but I have a lot of goals to reach with my music career before I go after others. I write a lot, and record the ones that make the most since to me. They are things that I need to get out...an emotion, a journal entry, an inside joke, an understanding, or an imagination that I can't keep inside of me. I believe in people, love, sharing good stories with one another, and my goal is to share my music with everyone I meet, so that they can come to understand who I am as a person, maybe take it to help them in their journey, cause everyone has obstacles in this world, and I'm right with you. © 2010 Josh Finley
