Since beginning his songwriting career, at 15 in a high school auto mechanics class, Atlanta’s Josh Fletcher has been experimenting with genres. Those first few years were spent concentrating on short bursts of punk energy quite fitting for a teenager. A chance encounter with old time country music helped to spur that inspiration in a different direction, and since then has continued to influence this young songwriter. His latest collection, tentatively titled “His and Hers,” reflects an increasing interest in blurring the lines between folk music and indie rock, with songs like “These Old Bones” and “Georgia” staying on the country side of things, while the album’s closer, “Gone” evokes a more ethereal approach. It’s a record that listeners who are familiar with the young artist will surely regard as his best yet. Those unfamiliar with the songwriter will be given a proper introduction to what hopefully will be a long and exciting career.
