JP has been playing in bands since the early 1990's where he made his mark as part of the post-punk group Chezacut (formerly Dred Scott). After hearing Brenda Kahn for the first time, JP decided to strip down his sound and the result was the Houghton, Michigan acoustic punk folk rock ensemble The Jeyds. The Jeyds were a power house of the regional Upper Michigan scene with several well received full length releases and tours before disbanding in 1998. JP relocated to Chicago in 1999 and belted it out with the city's 50,000 other singer songwriters (well, likely more) playing memorable gigs in Wise Fools Pub, Fitzgerald's, Schuba's, The Hideout, Abbey Pub, Gallery Cabaret, etc. JP performed as Justin Planasch and the Downpours while in the Windy City (1999-2008). JP released the memorable album "Roam" in 2001. AMG said of the album: "Chicago-based JP (Chudner) hits paydirt with his debut release.
