Her debut album, This Part of Town, was released last year after her meeting and subsequent working relationship with bluegrass musician and arranger, Dick Neal. Michael Croiter, of Yellow Sound Label, guided the project to its’ completion. The theme of the album is city meets country. It’s pop sensibitity, combined with the bluegrass instrumentation makes it reminiscent of Nickel Creek or Alisson Krauss, but it is unlike any of the above. Before it was released it had already won best song in the Jane magazine, Conde Nast, Music ‘IT LIST’ competition.
This North Carolina native began her music career after moving to New York City to pursue her dream of being on Broadway. While successfully establishing herself in the Broadway community, her life continued to pave her way back home to her music, her guitar and her voice.
Julie has played renowned New York venues including Joe’s Pub, The Canal Room, CBGBs, Ars Nova, The Knitting Factory, The Lion’s Den, The Bitter End, The Triad and the Red Lion.
