As one of the most anticipated West Coast artist, Kadillak Kaz has proven himself to be a force to reckon with as an artist, as well a businessman. He has been in numerous magazine publications such as slicemag.com in which his street anthem “Bedda Learn Bout It!!!” was voted the number one hottest single in Orange County. Representing the Ana’z (Santa Ana, Ca) Kadillak Kaz has been a very prolific writer since the age of 11 years old. As part of the Fortnoxx Organization which was a production company/ group of artist such as West Coast producers 4D (Kadillak’s cousin) and Caviar of T.I.’s Grand Hustle West, Kadillak was groomed for success. However, this isn’t the story of just another rapper, this is the story of a young warrior who has used his gift from God to turn “pain into profit”.
While the music scene in “The Ana’z” is heating up, Kadillak credits himself and a very selected few for being responsible for the attention being displayed. Kadillak recalls being laughed at and not being taken serious just because of his hometown. “ Back then I remember a lot of studs in my town used to claim everywhere but home so we used to put out the lil hood tapes just to rep us and give these studs something to be proud of…” However, just as Kadillak Kaz describes his music as reality rap, reality set in when a 1999 conviction of assault with a deadly weapon and two sales /transportation sent the then 20 year old to the California State Prison for 8 years and 4 months, bringing a complete halt to his dreams and hopes of turning his pain into profit.
Shortly after his release from prison in May 06, Kadillak began to put his plans back in motion by recording and releasing his two single’s “Bedda learn Bout it!!!” and “Lights Out” and he put two videos for both songs on youtube. His grinding paid off when his “Brotha from Anotha Motha” artist Cashis of Shady Records called him and the two began to work together which led to Cashis crowning Kadillak the capo of his Bogish Boy Gang Movement. The two artist along with Young De (B-Real of Cypress Hills Artist) are releasing an album titled “Homeland Security” set to be released in the summer of 2009. Kadillak is also a part of Y.A, and is currently working on an album with Roscoe, Bizzle, and Tristar of Y.A, which is also to be released in 2009.
When it comes to influences Kadillak stated “Hip Hop period!!! Everything from Grandmaster Flash to Snoop to E-40 to Scarface and can be summed up by saying my influences are all artist who keep it Hundrid!!!” Be on the lookout for Kaddy’z new single “Here 4 U” featuring R&B singer Los, produced by Deekay off his LP titled “Cali Life” coming in 2009.
