Emerging hip-hop artist KAHSYNO is making his mark as the flagship artist of Raw Suga Records. Born Thomas Shaw in Akron, Ohio, a city best know for its many rubber factories and blue-collar ethic, the energetic KAHSYNO has built an eager following and developed a reputation for having amazing stage presence and exceptional wordplay. He decided to give his music potential a chance to flourish in 2003 after being introduced to a local producer, [Sam Oliver], who at the time had worked with Gerald Levert and many other Ohio artists. KAHSYNO’S undeniable talent was quickly recognized, and he was later introduced to music executive Snoopie Velasquez, who helped keep him focused during his early years in music. After encountering some very difficult personal circumstances, KAHSYNO became disenchanted with the music industry and took a break to wipe the slate clean and focus on family. During this break, he continued to write poetry as a way to cope with everyday trials and tribulations, as he had done since a child. His patience eventually paid off, and he decided to give music another chance a few years later, when Velasquez invited the budding artist to come to Los Angeles as the first artist signed to Raw Suga Records, which she co-founded with [L.A.-based producer] Michael ‘DJ Sweets’ Young, Sr. KAHSYNO has been busy in the studio, working extensively to complete his debut mixtape, ["Memoirs of a Time Traveler"] with a talented team of producers, including Domino ["Ghetto Jam"], DJ Battlecat (Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Xzibit), Goodwill Hematoma and The Fire Starter. On his inaugural single "Can’t Stop Me", Ohio-based producer, The Firestarter provides the beat, while LA’s own DJ Battlecat takes the song to another level with the original Roger Troutman voicebox (No Autotune) and well-tuned knobs on the mix.
