From her angelic soultry crisp vocals, her magnetic live act, to her flowing songwriting skills, to her sexy style, this young lady is sure to make huge moves. Katrina gives you an old school pure sound reminding you of the great soft but unique vocal talents of legends like Minnie Riperton and Deniece Williams. Since as young as 4 yrs. old, she has been crooning and wooing crowds with her God given talent of singing. Raised in a musical family, her mother was a local singer in the community performing at various talent shows and opening up for big acts back in the early 80s like Zapp and Roger, The Gap Band, The Deal, and Atlantic Starr. Her aunt traveled the world as a lead singer for a disco band called Mexico, back in the 70s, and even released an album. Her late grandmother wowed everyone in the church congregation every single time she sang during services. So as you can see music is definitely rooted deeply in her blood. Through out Katrina's life she has always participated in anything that had to do with music. Being in school musicals, choir and ensembles, local talent shows and showcases were all a part of her every day life growing up. Ultimately, networking at a very young age brought her to signing a contract with D2 Entertainment (The Stith Twins). They approached Katrina and convinced her and her mother to sign with their local label to be in a 4 girl R&B group they would call "Fittin Image". Along with the St. Lunatics (before Nelly went solo), Frontline, P-Dub, Ol Skool and other local artists, Fittin Image officially was created. As we all know now, The St. Lunatics and Nelly have become some of the most successful entertainers out of St. Louis. Eventually priority attention was given to The St. Lunatics and Fittin Image was slowly but surely forgotten about. All of the members went their separate ways and began living their own lives. Katrina decided to continue her education and went to college to pursue a degree in Journalism/Radio Broadcasting at Lincoln University. During her schooling she still stayed in touch with her passion for music by traveling with the campus auditioned ensemble. With the ensemble, she graced the most prestigious stages that include Carnegie Hall and The Lincoln Center in New York City. After completing school, with the drive to become a successful R&B singer/songwriter, Katrina decided to go back home to St. Louis to reclaim what she had lost and much more. The American Idol auditions came to St. Louis in 2004 for Season 4 of the show. Katrina was among thousands of hopefuls who auditioned. After days of auditions and cut after cut, she made it to Round 3 with the celebrity judges. Randy and Paula left her with some great words of encouragement. "Never give up because you have got it!" they both said. The whole experience was an exceptional learning experience for Katrina. Without struggle, there is no reward. From her appearance on American Idol, Taylor had a small media buzz going on.... The headlines were reading "Were they robbed from their chance?" In the meantime, she also became a finalist for St.Louis Idol, the first year of the McDonalds R&B Soul Search, Ameristar Superstar, Harrahs Lucky Break, and Gospel Dream. With that said, Katrina Reece was contacted in late 2005 to audition for the upcoming DreamWorks film Dreamgirls for the pivoting role of Effie White made famous by Jennifer Holliday. Taylor was blessed to recieve 2 callbacks for the role. "Even still to be called back for something so major..I was blessed to even had been considered for a second look." Katrina states. In 2009, Katrina has continued to strive to get her music heard to the masses. She recently took a shot again at trying to capture the grand prize for the 2009 Mcdonald's R&B Soul Search and WON. Not taking this title for granted she has already debuted her first single, POSH, a major club banger. She also is on the road lending background vocals for several different artists. "I am really enjoying the life on the road and meeting amazing people, but it's time to take this opportunity and get from behind to show who Katrina really is. It's has been a true learning experience with each artist I work with, though." She believes that with hard work and determination anything is possible. Katrina expresses, "You have to really want it. Stay on the grind. Put God first. If you have TRUE talent, stand by it and affirm."
