KAV BIO Excitement is building around KAV an epic new songwriter who writes dynamic Rock songs with brilliant pop hooks. “This Blagger is a Latter-day Jagger” - The Guardian. KAV is a British artist from Leicester. He released his debut solo EP in April 08 with rave reviews from the UK & International press. The band have spent the past year in- between London & LA. They have signed a publishing deal with LA based publishers & have already had a track chosen for a Hollywood Feature Film. The ‘Blaggers & Liars EP’ & Double A Side single "Soul Kid/ Rock Chick" released in 2008 on London buzz imprint “This Feeling” Records were the first hints of Kav’s solo adventures. A brand new single is planned for May 2009 & a supporting UK Tour will follow. HISTORY Prior to KAV's solo career, KAV was guitarist in Legendary Mancunian band "Happy Mondays" for almost 4 years, leaving after V festival in 2007. KAV (28) was responsible for the band reforming in 2004. He co-wrote single Playground Superstar, title track for Hollywood Film GOAL, & new album Unkle Dysfunktional with original members Shaun Ryder & Gaz Whelan. KAV also launched one of the most successful club nights in London (guests including; Peter Hook / Carl Barat (Libertines/ DirtyPrettyThings) / Howard Marks/Client/ BetaBand/Mani(Primal Scream/Stone Roses)/Clint Boon,The Smiths & the legendary Tony Wilson). 'Getloaded' is now a long-running 20,000 capacity sell-out festival. Kav runs regular Electric Dirt Junkie (EDJ) parties in London & is launching EDJ Toronto & LA in 2009. Below is a selection of press from over the past 12 months: "This Blagger is A Latterday Jagger" The Guardian ……………………………………………………………………………………………… MUSIC WEEK Tipster ……………………………………………………………………………………………… ".... On his forthcoming Blaggers & Liars EP.....Lizard King starts off slow and swaggering and features bluesy slide guitar before transforming into a Led Zep-ish riff monster, like The Stone Roses circa Second Coming. Easy is a blues-soaked missive about life’s "chancers" And Satanic Circus Mask makes you think of The Stones’ Sympathy For The Devil hauled into the digital age by Death In Vegas” (The Guardian) ……………………………………………………………………………………………… MYSPACE Featured Artist ……………………………………………………………………………………………… CLASH Magazine – 'One’s to Watch' “...Touring the world with Shaun Ryder tends to open minds, and Kav has returned in a full-on creative mode if his debut EP ‘Blaggers & Liars’ is anything to go by. Reminiscent of The Stone Roses when they swapped Frankie Knuckles for John Bonham, Kav’s debut is a bluesy, swaggering affair, with the singer refusing to pull his punches…. ‘Blaggers & Liars’ he may detest, but Kav can rest easy as on this evidence he’s got the goods to match his boasting.” ……………………………………………………………………………………………… The SUN – Hottest Tracks Of The Week " **** - Dirge-like blues rock that’s part Primal’s XTRMNTR through its harsh beats and part Sisters Of Mercy with gloomy guitars. It works a treat..." ……………………………………………………………………………………………… “One Of Brit rock's brightest young hopes" I LIKE MUSIC ……………………………………………………………………………………………… "Kav, leads his 'band of pirates' on a journey that makes no attempt to conform to the modern indie sound. Heavy bluegrass riffs cast against a plaintive Lou Reed-esque vocal set them apart from anything about at the moment.... Lizard King and Killing Yourself are stylishly bluesy while final song and current EP Blaggers'n'Liars pares down like a mature but broody Black Rebel Motorcycle Club." THE BIRMINGHAM MAIL ……………………………………………………………………………………………… "Oozing testosterone, it sounds like it's been marinated in JD and soaked in Marlborough smoke along the way.... Imagine Shaun Ryder-meets Bob Dylan with a big injection of off-your-face techno and you're almost there. THE DAILY STAR ……………………………………………………………………………………………… LA Times - Buzz Bands ……………………………………………………………………………………………… "Blaggers 'N' Liars" is a swaggering, bluesy beast.. Kav looks set to well and truly get the party started!" “...Kav seems to have been surviving on a staple diet of barbituates and sleazy, sunset strip Rock ‘n’ Roll….The result of meeting satan at the crossroads every month is a low-slung, blues –indebted rock ‘n’ roll outing seeped in whisky-soaked saloon brawls and murder ballad gusto.” CLASH MAGAZINE ……………………………………………………………………………………………… "New single ROCK CHICK is a strangely pitched musical affair that somehow manages to meld the grooves of the Monday's to the sleazy rock of Marilyn Manson, the teutonic beats of Death In Vegas and the funk of James Brown; not an easy trick to pull off. An impressive introduction to the world of Kav, ROCK CHICK/SOUL KID is as intriguing as it is hypnotic, A single that certainly leaves you hungry for much more."
