KaylaElise, totally blind from birth, is an incredibly talented 8yr old girl from Albemarle N.C.. She has recently recorded her 2nd album of all original material titled " I'm Moving On". While to some her handicap would seem debilitating and keep her from living a quality life, she astonishes everyone by her ability to overcome and excel at everything she puts her mind to. Her musical journey started when she was about 4yrs old when one day she walked by the piano and started to play "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". Ever since then she has been playing and singing herself into the hearts of her hometown community. In 2007 she recorded her first album which consisted of 20 songs ranging from, "Jesus Loves Me", to "Jingle Bells" , with her also having 2 of her own instrumental compositions. In 2008 she headed back to the studio to record her own original full length album. On this album she played all the piano and strings as well as singing all the vocals. All the songs were also written and arranged by Kayla. Half of the album has a full band behind her as she solicited the help from the Brandon McSwain Band that her step dad plays in. As parents we see her everyday overcoming and excelling not just at music, but at life. She does not go to a special school but rather a regular public school where she is at the top of her class academically as well exceeding on higher grade level material. When performing music whether it be a church event or other venues, the thing that touches people about Kayla is her happy, bubbly personality. When people watch her they forget that she is blind. Her enthusiasm and "you can do it" attitude has an effect on people that gives them hope and encouragement as they watch her have a good time performing for them. We think that she is amazing and not from just a parents perspective. We think the people all around this nation would be touched by this little girl.
