After having played many types of music in many different places I've always seemed to gravitate back toward Tennessee and toward the heavier genres. After having played many types of music in many different places I've always seemed to gravitate back toward Tennessee and toward the heavier genres. Lately, however, I've found myself with a great great desire to keep it simple. An acoustic guitar and or a mandolin and I'm a lot happier than messin' with all the damn cables. Call it age, but I'm also finding a simple peace in getting back to the basics with a few chords of my own and a few borrowed from those influences that made me want to play and then challenged me to figure it out. Nothing I have ever done has challenged me more or brought me more joy than being a parent. It's this, above all, that keeps me grounded. I really just like to play out a couple times a month, for myself, without much delusion of bigger things. I like to play my own material as well as covers from current and classic artists. My time with Strip Mall Church ( That's a band, not a mission organization) familiarized me with the local scenes as well as cemented bonds which I still value. No disrespect to them, but I think we have all learned to just do it our own way. It's with this mentality that I move forward solo but certainly not alone.
