Pioneer… Trailblazer… Avant-garde… These are just a few of the words used to describe kFrank and the dichotomy of his artistic expression. kFrank was born Kerrion Rashad Franklin on May 7, 1988 and is the oldest son of arguably the most successful gospel recording artist of all time and pioneer of the synthesis between hip-hop and traditional gospel music, Kirk Franklin. Although he carries the last name and may have inherited the God-given talent, kFrank is his own man and his own rivetingly unique, secular creative force. kFrank’s lyrics and music are as original as the man himself… kFrank grew up in the music industry and traveling the world – watching, listening, learning – and soaking up every ounce of the influences surrounding him. Before kFrank reached age ten, he had already graced the covers of Ebony and Jet magazines with his father and family. In 2005, at the ripe age of sixteen, kFrank received placement on his father’s platinum selling album “Hero” in which he wrote and performed the lyrical poetry titled “Outro”. At the age of 18, kFrank emancipated himself from family, friends, and acquaintances and made a personal sojourn to California without accompaniment. It was during this journey in Los Angeles where he fully developed a synergy and love for electronic, house and alternative music. Another major influence in the evolution of kFrank as a lyricist, vocalist, and songwriter are the club sounds originating from the UK and Europe. Upon his return to Texas, kFrank was armed with the artistic integrity to enter the musical battlefield on his own terms. It was also in Texas where kFrank coalesced his artistic and business team that includes producers Nuel & Bleu as co-conspirators in the “Lame Movement” along with Houston attorney, manager, and business partner Brooks Harrison. With this eclectic ensemble of imprints and newfound partners in his artistic endeavors, kFrank has also been heavily influenced by American hip-hop legends such as Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. He attributes these world-class artists as inspiration for his much welcomed entrance into the world of music. His personal tastes in music combined with the above referenced influences are why kFrank’s music possesses such a distinct and divergent sound. kFrank emphatically states, “Music is the avenue that I use to express my creativity.” kFrank’s first full length project, The Predicate EP Revised, has undergone its finishing touches and will be formally released in 2011 under the Fenix/L.A.M.E banner. The Predicate EP Revised is a self-contained project featuring two up and coming producers, Nuel & Bleu, and an eclectic cast from around the globe. kFrank provides all lyrics as well as serving as Executive Producer on The Predicate EP Revised. “My music, The Predicate EP Revised, is my peace”, says kFrank. From the Prologue to the Epilogue, everything in between is a wide array of multifarious beats and heterogeneous lyrics and ultimately pure genius. “Come Get On Me”, “Sip”, and “Emergency” are the first three singles that you will soon hear blasting through your radio speakers and at nightclubs around the globe. “My music is an expression of my world - real life, real love, real darkness, raw truth”, says kFrank, “and I have no channel… I connect with everyone on some level which is why my music touches so many different people, cultures, and crosses all artificial boundaries.” The renowned online music news source, The Urban Advocate, discovered kFrank in Dallas, Texas. Their assessment of kFrank and his work speaks for itself: “His desire to be different, his passion for artistic expression and his work ethic make his potential boundless. kFrank has his own sound and his own story, which makes him his own artist and ultimately his own man. Where ever his path may lead him, he will make it standing on his own two knowing he’s not a slave to conformity.” kFrank, The Predicate EP Revised, and “The Lame Movement” are a regional phenomenon at the moment, but soon the world will know the talents, music, lyrics, style, and vernacular of this soon to be musical and lyrical superstar and his art.
