Kia Rap Princess was born in Milwaukee,Wisconsin on January 02,1986.Being the first niece, first grand daughter not to mention her mother's first and only child,Kia was very special. As a toddler she was always into musical toys. Her grandmother took note of this when she was just four years old.She noticed Kia could play the piano very well at her age and started teaching her more daily at the piano in her living room. Kia Rap Princess loved to be around music. She enjoyed listening and singing along to Anita Baker,Baby Face,Earth Wind and Fire and host of other musical legends. She joined the children's choir at her church at age five and also started taking piano lessons on Saturdays. Her grandmother bought her her first Casio Keyboard at age 6.Day in Day out the only thing you heard was Kia pounding away at her keyboard. She would even skip dinner sometimes to learn songs that were on the radio. She played well by ear.Kia developed a sense for harmonies and tones very early in her life, but this wasn't enough for Kia. She was always listning to music when she went to bed.Listnening to music on her way to school. She would even get in trouble sometimes for being more focused on music than her school work. Kia Rap Princess was also into sports. She enjoyed playing basketball, football, swimming and her favorite urban sport "Cans". She was a very competitive girl. She'd take on any boy on her block...even the big ones. But growing up around majority males helped Kia become the "alpha female" she is today. When she was in the 7th grade Kia formed a TLC inspired group called "YBNORMAL". The Group consisted of Lakeisha(Ke Ke) Danielle(Psycho D) and Kia as her uncle's given nick name to her "Noogie Woogie". Kia was always writing songs for the girls, sometimes even their verses. But she didn't mind, she loved the idea of taking what was in her heart and putting it into a song people could enjoy and sing along to. By her 8th grade year YBNORMAL disbanded due to Lakeisha moving to Texas. The girls did not want to find another to replace Lakeisha because everyone agreed that no one could. So Kia and Danielle remained friends while Kia thought of her next move to start her music career.Later that year Kia Co-produced her schools play called "Millenium 2K". Kia was very hands on with the project.Choreographing dances and being an excellent performer in the show. She loved the stage, the lights, the music. On that day,Kia knew Music was her destiny. Summer of her 9th grade year Kia formed another group called "Claw Clique".This time the members were all family.Consisting of cousins Clint(lil C),Wade(Tank),Wille(lil Will now known as Jae Ace) and Kia this time as her family given nickname "Nikki". Because she was so competitive she was always focused on Keeping up with the boys. She stood out being the only female in the rap group. Kia was very serious, and her songs started to sound more polished as she kept writing. The boys then started to realize,it wasn't her that needed to keep up with them, but them needing to keep up with her.Kia had evolved into a solo artist. At 16 Kia entered many freestyle battles.Battling many Mcs in the "Roc The Mic" battles hosted by Dj Razor out of Milwaukee. She amazed the crowd and judges, even made it to the final rounds but didn't take home the winning prize. But Kia kept writing, kept flowing, it was almost as if not winning the competition gave her the fire to "go harder".By the time she was 17 she caught the eye of a local indie lable owner by the name of "Logo" of "i2i Records". Home to Milwaukee hero "Baby Drew" and "The Country Boy Clique".Logo produced a number of songs for Kia,Including "Hundred Grand" which recieved remarkable radio play by Dj Homer Blow of then local radio staion "860 WNOV". At age 19 Kia was contacted by Jim James of Amazin Music Company an indie label in Los Angeles,CA.He moved her out to sunny California to further her career in music in hopes of getting Kia signed to a major label. She worked with top notch producers and engineers including "Rhythm D" who produced for NWA and also responsible for the 90's hit "Do the Diddy" by Paper Boy.Also worked with Super producer and engineer Dan Naim who's worked with Patti Labelle,Kelly Rowland and a host of A list musicians. Not to mention working with Mark Scarboro aka "Scobra" who has produced and engineered for "RZA" of Wu-Tang Clan and currently working with Leila Steinberg(2Pac's first manager)to assist with her show "Microphone Sessions" Co-produced by QD3. Kia worked hard during her stay in California.Producing songs, recording songs and promoting her music at clubs and different showcases including Leila Steinbergs "Microphone Session".Kia looked for exposure wherever she could get it.Even performing on the street circuit on the Santa Monica Promenade. The hard work paid off.In April of 2007 Kia landed a meeting with then A&R represenative "Andrea Torcha" of Sony BMG.Kia received a "Go Ahead" for publishing but due to Sony's catalog being sold to Universal the deal never went further than the meeting. In Decemeber of 2007 Kia moved back to her hometown Milwaukee.A year later she linked up with "Blaqlizt Music Entertainment" whom she is currently working with to record new material to be released soon. Born with a passion for music, she's been determined it seems her whole life to "make it".She's had her share of a few Ups and Downs. The downs only adding to the fire that burns within her and the will to keep going. When asked What we can expect out of Kia Rap Princess in the future she said "A life Long Album of Determination".
