King Benj-I, music creator, writer, recording artist, guitarist and performer, started his musical journey in Kingston, Jamaica. By hisearly twenties, King Benj-I had become a well respected recording artist worldwide. Recordedfor Legendary recording studios in Jamaica, Channel One,Harry J & King Tubby, Youthman PromotionsSome of King Benj-I’s first shows was in Kingston, JA for producerHenry Junjo Laws, Portmore Reggae Festival, Odeon Theater,some shows in the Countryside of Jamaica.King Benj-I started his own recording label “Solid Rock” in JA withRaymond Smith who produced his first classic hit single“Crazy Lover”. & Poor Can't Take No More, which was his first single.A personal friend of Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown,John Holt, Tinga Stuart, Latty Guzang, Errol Dunkley, Sugar Minott,Josey Wales, Papa Toyan, Lee Van Cliff, Reggae Giants whom he grewup and worked with. His works and successes have earned him theright to be among the Reggae Greats.In ‘84, King Benj-I left Jamaica for his first international exposure inUnited States, to conduct a world tour starting in the US for his hitsingle “Crazy Lover” with Roots Radics Band, where they playedseveral states through out the US, Mexcio & Canada.His outlook on life and his concern about derogatory lyrics, influence progressive people as they give him Nuff respect. His message,style and charisma is original. as he takes his music to higher heights. First Reggae Artist to headline along with Positive Power Band,Jah Love & The Survivors and Rock & Roll’s best, NJ’s own Bruce Springsteen at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ.King went on to play Synphony Hall in Newark, NJ There he played alongside Mary Baracka, Leroy Jones, Black DemocraticConnection, De La Sole, Jessica Corrum, Poet Paramore, Bouncing Soul, the Calabash Sisters and Bigga Thomas GroupKing went on to release albums such as; Reggae Girl, Outrage, Who Rule and Racial Profiling., singles, such as; Girl Like You,Hail Up King Selassie-I, Don’t Hurt My Love and Jah is the Assurance. His new works, ready for release. is album, ”Musical Revelation”.King Benj-I has contributed to numerous charitable events, to name a few: Hurricane Gilbert Relief Fund, for aid to Jamaica.Fireman’s Benefit for the Perth Amboy, NJ Fire Department, Marlboro Physchiatric Hospital, NJReggae Festivals: The Festival of Four Directions in Tuba City, Arizona, (on the Hope Indian Reservation,) World Reggae Festival inWichita, Kansas, Reggae Sunsplash in North Carolina, African American Festivals, Garden State Arts Center, NJ (the first reggae artistto play at Arts Center).
