Kris Leigh is an American rock singer, songwriter and musician who began his singing career in 2008 after he had picked up a copy of "Playing The Angel" by Depeche Mode, to help him cope with his grandfather's passing due to heart failure. He immediately began recording Depeche Mode cover songs and then progressed to writing and singing his own songs in 2009. Though his debut single "Know Much Better" wasn't his very first song he had ever recorded that was written by him, he however became the first that he had completed and put out into the public eye. Kris Leigh takes inspiration from the folk music of the sixties, new renaissance of the eighties, and hard rock of the nineties. Blending sounds of southern rock, soft rock, and acoustic sounds, Kris takes you through a journey of pain, love, growth, abuse, and understanding Writing songs that impact people is what Kris has always tried to achieve through every song he has written. Many of these songs are based off of his own experiences growing up. Kris style varies and can be grouped with Southern Rock, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Acoustic Rock, Alternative. When asked in a interview, he stated that "I never like to stay in one place. I want each of my songs to stand out from the rest and be different each time" Kris Leigh originally began singing under the name of Chris L Holloway and had briefly sang with his high-school friend, Chris Moore, under the name of Rain, but the band never was ever able to get up off the ground and Chris Moore disbanded from Rain a month later. They recorded four songs, but due to the lack of quality when recording them, they were never released. "Depressing Song", became the only song from the Rain project that was released. Kris Leigh first took the name after realizing that Chris L Holloway didn't stand out and stand for what he was trying to convey as a singer/songwriter. He began to think of names, and remembering that Alice Cooper had been a stage name of Vincent Damon Furnier, he wanted to go for something that was ironic joke. Then he remembered a girl he had dated in the past, and Kris Leigh stuck. Kris Leigh was something ironic, that clashed with the dark subject matter of a-lot of his songs. That people would see his name and never think that he would be singing the songs he was singing. "Finding Light In Dark", the debut album from Kris Leigh takes inspiration from the folk music of the sixties, new renaissance of the eighties, and hard rock of the nineties. Blending sounds of southern rock, soft rock, and acoustic sounds, "FLD" takes you through a journey of pain, love, growth, abuse, and understanding; finding a light at the end of the tunnel sums up what Kris Leigh was going for when he began writing songs from "FLD". Based off of many of his own life experiences, Kris puts his soul and heart into every song within this album. He then mixes it with dark tones that play into the subject matter of each song. Writing songs that impact people is what Kris has always tried to achieve through every song he has written. Many of the songs from "FLD" touch on relationships and the loss of of them.
