Yung Tay K-Roc born Chantay Kittrell was born in Takoma Park, Maryland on February 27, 1989. She started writing "poems" at the age of 11. As her skills continued to develope in writing poetry she heard Brandy's I wanna be down remix. Right then and there she knew that female rap was possible and she would achieve it. At that moment she grabbed her poem book (or rhyme book as she called it) and immediately realized her poems sounded better with music. A childhood friend Kevin (Zero) was already into the music scene. Doing freestyle battles at his school in D.C. He was an aspiring producer, that with little experience made the best of their situation. Chantay would always tell him," you know, there are 2 kind of people in this world." "people with tools and no skill, and people with skills and no tools." They both immediately realized that they were people with skills and no tools. Kevin began making instrumentals, though were mediocre and repetitive, Chantay and him made the best of it. Something like a Puff and Big duo but not as paid. After a while, Chantay decided that rappers, especially female, were not in demand for the way the game was going. So she decided she'd leave rap in her dreams. But Kevin didn't, he knew it was possible and had to do something to convince Chantay, a realist to the point of no return. So after 6 years, Kevin started Frontline Recordz, an independent unsigned label, with his cousin Alex. But he never forgot about the talent one of his childhood friends had. He managed to hunt Chantay down and tell her all the progress he had made towards there goal of stardom. At that moment Chantay knew it was possible and she's been "hungry" for it every since. She's has a very amphibious style. She's talented and has a natural ear for good music. Just listen to her and you decide. But think seriously about reality and realize, she's it for 2009. Tay is the new black!
