Help trafficked children in Thailand. Give Freedom. Today. Kru Man, a Thai painter, is helping 130 kids find a better life, beyond human sex traffickers and karaoke bars. She’s already done the unthinkable – she has dedicated her life to 130 kids, from ages 4-17, providing safe haven from the brutal world around them. All she needs now is funds to help her complete a new village, named Buddies along the Roadside, which will have 5 dormitories, an arts and education center, and plenty of land to grow their own crops. The village is now over half done, but Kru Nam needs to raise another $60,000 to complete the project. Become an Abolitionist Today: Join the Paste/OurStage holiday drive to raise $60,000. Details about BUDDIES ALONG THE ROADSIDETotal population – 130 kids, from ages 4-17 Many of the kids come from hilltribes and/or are from Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and even China. The situation for kids who are on the streets is poor. If on the streets in Mae Sai, the Thai police will through them in a ‘holding pin’ for the night. This is done in attempt to scare them to leave the streets. Mae Sai is a tourist destination due to the border passing with Burma. Otherwise, many of the kids that end up with Kru Nam have come from families that have a hard time making the ends meet. These families sometimes decide to sell a child to make ends meet. In 2007, Kru Nam bought ten kids for $3/each average price in order to prevent the kids from being sold to sex traffickers.
