Kuntry Munkey is a rap duo from Dothan, Alabama formed in 2006. The team consists of Rashaun Walker (R.A.T Da Hulk) born on May 14, 1986 and Cornelius (C.Yungsta) Young born on August 24, 1988. The two are cousins in relation. R.A.T got into making music at the age of 17 and C.Yungsta also around that age. Inspired by artists such as Young Dro, Eminem, Fall Out Boy Bob Marley Maroon 5, Akon and other favorite artist artist from all different genres of music R.A.T decided that it was there time to do their own thing together. Though the duo wasn’t formed until 2006 both were already into writing lyrics to other artist instrumentals. However before this big change Rashaun (R.A.T) Walker was part of a rap group named the “Cowboyz” in established 2003. They were a popular group to their city and surrounding areas doing shows at clubs and public areas. Due to uncontrolled circumstances at the peak of there road to achievement one of the members was shot and put into ICU for months to a year on July 4, 2005. The group slowed all music making and gradually split up. Fueled with hope an faith R.A.T made a promise to his fellow friend in the hospital a few weeks later saying that “if he stayed with him on this earth that he promised he would finish what they started for the both of them no matter what. Immediately Rashaun (R.A.T) Walker started working on the TONY DAVIS presents mixtape that he named after his injured and close friend. With a computer mic and a recording program. His local fame began as R.A.T Da Hulk. Posting all music engineered the best he could onto myspace. For this he was able to branch out to the city making songs for high school sports teams and even city softball teams. Anything to get his name in somebody’s and everybody’s ear. Seeing his drive and passion for music influenced relative and rapper Cornelius (C.Yungsta) Young to start writing all his lyrics down instead of just freestyling. The unstoppable duo was known for making a remix to every new song that came out and putting their on twist on it. Working a small fast food Job and instrumentals made by a friend R.A.T managed to pay for the first radio debut with the song I’LL BET THAT also recorded in the house on a computer mic. The song was paid for and spinned for two weeks and earned a free extra week bc of the numerous request but due to lack of funds was taking off the air. In 2007 after his close friend made a recovery R.A.T then made the song BAND IN MY TRUNK featuring Tony Davis(the close friend). Taking another shot at fame Band in my trunk was put onto the radio for a month with great feedback but again due to lack of funds was taken off air. Not discouraged R.A.T started to reach out past his city collabing with other local artist in their own state like P89 from Philadelphia.(known for his songs with known artist Freeway). Also due to being good friends with guitarist Blake Johnson recording and performing live with Rock Band Aerias. Having to get their lives back on track through the next years financially and more stable R.A.T and C.Yungsta continued to write always and record music whenever possible. Finally R.A.T admitted to himself that enough was enough and with one phone call they were at it full throttle. With money saved up from a previous job the first instrumental was brought and the city was shook with the new hit single “IN MY ZONE”. With no radio play and just by word of mouth and the help of the internet. Kuntry Munkey was back and better than ever. From a computer mic to recording music in the home of Bobby Goddard, artist of D.H.Y.B(Don’t Hold Your Breath) and whom is also the featured singer on the new popular and rising songs on Myspace: Overdrive & Barbie and Ken. “A team of local superheroes” if u let Kuntry Munkey tell it were touchin everybody’s soul and making them dance and sing out loud to the songs they were dishing out to whoever and whenever. Linking together as a team R.A.T has also featured on Q. Young and D.H.Y.B’s song titled Failures of Love. All groups have performed together and broadened their already known name in an permanent ink in there hometown. They’re songs are all original none like the others making a statement that they will not come in or go out with the fad. For they are one of a kind and the music proves it. Kuntry Munkey has proven to their city and to themselves that they have what it takes to achieve there goals and to surpass those goals. As a team decision between R.A.T and Bobby Goddard( D.H.Y.B) they realized first then decided that they would make great music together to show their friends and future fans what having a good time was all about. They have chosen to make music that people could relate to but mostly in a good state of mind because the world has enough trouble already and no one needs to be reminded of it. As a music family Kuntry Munkey, D.H.Y.B & Q.Young will show the world that u don’t have to be famous to have a good time and u don’t have to be rich to ball out of control. All u need is great music and great people. Kuntry Munkey is PARTY to be reckoned with.
