Being born and raised in Charleston, SC, Kyndra is next to the youngest out of six siblings and is no stranger to music. At an early age, she was exposed to all genres of music such as Gullah Spirituals, Gospel, Jazz, R & B, Blues, Reggae and Soul. Her musical influences incorporates such legends as Ann Caldwell, Sara Vaughn, Nina Simone, Rachelle Ferrell, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dr. Buzzard and the Savannah Band, Cassandra Wilson, Al Jarreau, Pete Escovedo and Sweet Honey and the Rock to name a few. She has sung solo as well as in performing groups such as Magnolia Singers (gullah spirituals), Burke Singers (performing group), Jesus and Me-J.A.M (gospel) and various concert choirs. In addition, Kyndra has performed in various venues such Juneteenth Celebration (CT), Augusta Music Festival (GA), GA Democratic Rallies and the Spoleto Festival (SC).
Kyndra Joi is now going nationwide with her edgy and sultry style. Project I, her second project, will be released in the Spring of 2011! In the meantime, we will be hitting the streets in getting Kyndra Joi to be a household name. Stay close by because we are about to take off! I hope to see each of you there!
