Leara is a diverse young singer/songwriter/musician from New York whose music has influences from many genres including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Folk, Funk, Classical, Avant Garde, and Experimental. Started writing songs and performing them at an early age. Posted up at Jango are some of her very early pieces (Sun Said, Bad Hair Day, She Has No Voice-Leara was 11 at the time, she's now 23) as well as some of her more recent stuff "Six String, Glimmer Strange, Doppler." Her skillful use of dissonance and uncommon meter, makes her overall sound unique and compelling. Many of these recordings are intentionally organic, in a bold attempt to capture the moment without any pesticides or a thousand overdubs. Leara plays guitar, piano, oboe and can whistle pretty good! She has performed extensively and has won awards for her writing. Leara is a music therapist by profession and works full time with the sick and elderly in a center in NY, trying her best to brighten their day. Hope you enjoy her music!
