With influences that stem from the pioneers of the game and an edge that is usually associated with a legendary appeal comes the dawn of a southern rapper like no other. Lloyd "Life the Great" Musa is as unique an artist as they come. His roots begin in Sierra Leone with his parents, and raised in the Atl, and cultivated in all genres of music Life provides a voice that has never been heard in hip hop. With the soul of a Marvin Gaye, the cockiness of a Sean Carter, and the insight of Nas comes a sound completely unexpected of an MC from the Durty south. Born 1981 in Atlanta, Ga Life was always fond of Hip Hop music but became in love with the art form when exposed to artist like LL Cool J, Rakim and MC Lyte through his cousins. He found their delivery and the way they told gritty urban tales over captivating beats mesmerizing. From the minute he heard LL Cool J say "I'll take a muscle bound man and rub his face in the sand." He was hooked. From there a bond was formed that could never be broken. Life's musical journey has taken to the highs and lows of this business. Entering the Blaze Battle at 16 Life ripped his way through 1000 MC's to reach the final sixteen and was eliminated in the first round. Never discouraged Life felt even more determine to have his voice heard. Though music always remained in his heart it took a chance meeting while in college to have his career turn that proverbial corner. While attending an Atlanta college Life met a man by the name of Antonio Starr. Antonio and Life shared the same love, drive, and determination required to break into this business and formed a friendship/partnership that is the corner stone to Life's career thus far. Initially Life and Antonio had a management/artist relationship. But rejection from label after label cause them to join forces and create Urban Acres Entertainment a label of their own that would allow them to make the terms. Established in 2002 Urban Acers is a label that embarrasses artistry, develops individuality, and respects artistic integrity. Life the first artist on the label has had the freedom to draw from all his experience to create projects that not only can you ride to but take you on a mental journey as well. This game has defiantly shown this young man its ugly side but through it all he has remained hopeful. When asked what he believes his future may hold he confidently responds "After all that I have been through in my life there are three things I believe in Antonio Starr, Urban Acers, and the success they both will bring to my future."I Gain influence from 70's and 80's R&b and soft rock music and also early 90's hip hop. But to keep it all the way real things I see, things around me worldy, has had a very huge influence which draws inspiration to my music. From the Harsh streets of the "A" comes an artist of promise "He is our flash light in the dark" Says Benny Mullins. I think one of the most prolific rappers I've seen in our hip hop culture. Life the Great gives a breath of fresh air in a industy that is polluted with nonsense. He is still street yet savy on the intelectual tip, I have never seen this bridge gapped before. 07'-08' seems like a promising year for hip-hop.
