{Lengthy Official Type Bio} Lisa Nicole Grace Evangelos was born and raised in the prairies of Edmonton, Alberta. Growing up in a musical household, Lisa was drawn to creativity at a young age. She was involved in dance, gymnastics and fine arts throughout her childhood. Her shift to music came at the end of high school, when she had extensive spinal surgery to correct her significant curvature of the spine – a disorder called scoliosis. During her recovery Lisa began taking voice lessons. In 2003 Lisa moved to Nova Scotia to go to school for voice. After completing her Bachelor's Degree of Music at St. Francis Xavier University in 2005, Lisa moved back home to Edmonton. She began playing frequently around town with various jazz quartets, big bands and contemporary groups. In 2006, after songwriting for what seemed like a lifetime on her own, she decided to form an acoustic trio, putting her main focus on her own songwriting consisting of a blend of folk/roots, pop, country and blues. Lisa’s songwriting is influenced mostly by conversations with close friends and family. She is moved by relationships, and expresses her unspoken thoughts and emotions through her music. Her melodies are simple and sweet. Lisa is passionate about harmony, and takes great joy in singing backup for various friends and artists. She does most of her collaborating with her husband Jered (who is also her drummer/percussionist) and her brother in law Brent Schaitel(piano, guitar and backup vocals). Over the past few years Lisa has developed quite a fan base in Edmonton and is ready to take her music to the next level. In July of 2008 Lisa released her first EP “the cellar sessions”. The EP was recorded in her own basement studio, affectionately nicknamed “the cellar”. Currently Lisa is in the studio recording her first full length album to be released in 2010. With her EP released, Lisa is finally ready to make her mark on the Canadian music scene as an up and coming singer and songwriter. {Me in my own words} My full name is Lisa Nicole Grace Evangelos... but I mostly just go by Lisa. I'm still newlywed enough to enjoy the sporadic "Mrs. Evangelos" though. My day job is working for a hospital foundation, I fundraise for a long term care facility by organizing fundraising campaigns and special events. It's rewarding work. But, my passion is writing. It took me a while to realize that. I went through life participating in dance, art, and choir, but didn't start taking music seriously until after highschool. I went to university for music, but never really quite felt at home until I started playing around town with my own band playing my own music. It's been an adventure for sure, and I am happiest when singing, especially when it's a song I've written for someone or for myself. Currently I'm trying to find a happy balance with work, music, and life in general. I think I'm on my way.
