Proud to have been born in Calgary, Alberta, home of the Calgary Flames and the world famous Calgary Stampede, Lonnie Rathie grew up on her parents fortunately excellent musical preferences. Those influences have all made their way into what she calls "bastard folk-country-rock." She started taking singing and piano lessons at a very young age . At 19 she joined her first band as a backup singer and the performing bug hit. She learned how to play guitar and started writing a slew of songs. Her first independent CD "Travelling ALone" was released in 2003. She was the musical guest on VTV's "Breakfast Show" and starred as a musician on "The Twilight Zone" episode "Harsh Mistress". After living and working in production in the film and TV industry in Vancouver for many years, she decided that music was her true calling and set out to follow that goal. She devoted her time to writing and performing with her new motto 'face your fear, live your dream.' She attacked the independent circuit in Vancouver and NYC- playing such venues as The Green Room, The Marine Club, Kenny's Castaways, The C-Note, CBGB's, Piano's, The Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End. She was invited to be part of the 'NYCares" compilation in 2004 and performed over 50 live shows in the next 2 and a half years in New York, Austin, Montreal and Vancouver. She released another independent CD "Live Your Life" in 2005. The show "15/Love" in Canada and France featured her music for 3 years and in season 3 Lonnie made a guest appearance on episode seven - "Road Trip", which aired in August of 2006. "Heaven" from 'Travelling Alone', was featured in the Lifetime movie "I Me Wed". In September 2006, Lonnie took a year and a half off and went to China to teach music to children and created a program that used Western music to teach English. She is currently based in Sydney, Australia and has launched a full scale attack on their music scene. Look for her songs in the upcoming movie "Traveling At The Speed of Life" written and directed by Brent Cowell. Her love for music is followed closely by her affection for hockey, kickboxing and pretty shoes. This 'rockstar-in-training' speaks French, Italian, Spanish and just enough Chinese to order beers and ask how much shoes cost. What else do you need to know in any language, non?
