In early 2006 LYKIN was born of a cover band from Battle Creek, Michigan that had disassembled. With only a couple of the members left, the plan for doing original works set forth. Many times the band has been asked, "where did you come up with your band name?" The name LYKIN was chosen by the band because of what it symbolized, shape shifter. LYKIN put their own spin on the concept behind the mythological werewolf, and realized how easily and successfully they could combine different musical styles and shift it into anything they chose. And the really cool part, it really does work like that for them. It was soon realized by this five member group, that they had an almost uncanny flair for taking a multi-level and original approach to the music writing process, ultimately giving them an edge in the local music scene. LYKIN had gained significant notoriety because of their ability to creatively interweave different genres of music. Their music strongly suggests not only metal, but punk rock, hip-hop, gothic, and occasionally. a hint of industrial. Their unique style/sound in the local music scene is what makes them popular. Every song offers something fresh and tells a different story. LYKIN has also been known for giving high energy performances. They thrive on audience participation and have a great time getting the crowd involved. Musically speaking, their goal has always been to write music with catchy groves, great hooks, and meaningful lyrics. They consider themselves entertainers and go into every venue, club, and theatre with a professional, yet fun loving, attitude and a specific mind set. Once they hit the stage and the lights come on, it's time for the LYKIN in them to come out. They rock hard, and never disappoint their audience. They definitely add an ingredient unlike any other band in the area. LYKIN has had the privilege of opening for several national touring acts, including, (HED)PE, DOPE, BOBAFLEX, PRIMER 55, CRITICAL BILL, NEVERSET, JOAN RED, KINGSPADE, OTEP, ANEW REVOLUTION, EYES SET TO KILL, AS SUMMER DIES, NONPOINT, and TAPROOT In October of 2008 changes in the band had led LYKIN's members to seek out a new guitarist. Auditions were held and it wasn't long before a young, energetic musician from Marshall answered the call. LEVIATHAN JOSTS showed LYKIN that he was more than just an average guitarist. His energy and love of music was obvious. Needless to say, his style and ability was impressive and Lev, unquestionably, was a true LYKIN at heart. In February of 2009 LYKIN found the perfect vocalist/frontman. KITT WILLIAMS brought a new life to LYKIN. On that day LYKIN was "REBORN." Kitt had a sound and style that would lead LYKIN into the new era. He showed the world the soul of a LYKIN. His lyrics are emotionally intense and his voice lays down a powerhouse of forceful rhythms and heavy melodic lines. For core members, MIKE, RHYNO, and MS LYKIN it was all worth the changes and the wait. LYKIN will exceed their already notable accomplishments with the new lineup.
