The musical collaboration of the son of Phil Lesh, bass player for the Grateful Dead, and the former lead singer of country group “The Jenkins” (Capitol Records, Nashville) may seem an unlikely pairing, but for Grahame Lesh and Brodie Jenkins, influences run deep. Both San Francisco Bay Area natives, the two met at Stanford University in the fall of 2006 and instantly hit it off. Drummer Eric Saar, who was the first to recommend Jenkins, says, “The band was nearly complete. All we needed was a hot, kick ass front-woman, and Brodie was IT.” With Jenkins’ smoldering, octave-leaping vocals leading the way, the band developed a brand of soaring, anthemic, brazenly sexy indie rock ‘n’ soul that is undeniably fresh. Now based in San Francisco, CA, Maiden Lane has taken their vigorous live show to venues all over the Bay Area, including Slims and the Independent in San Francisco and the Fox Theater in Oakland. The band continues to write and record, with a slew of new songs in the works. Maiden Lane’s newest eponymous EP is currently being mixed at San Francisco’s Different Fur Studios, and will be released soon!
