Jermaine “Maintain” Mitchell was born on March 13, 1985 and raised in (Lost Area, Carver Ranches) Hollywood, Florida. “The Ranches” as it’s affectionately known by the residence is where Maintain learned respect and loyalty. While attending McNicol Middle School, Maintain developed a relationship with another “Ranches Kid” Marcus Cooper aka Pleasure P. The two shared their passion for music and began writing songs together. One song the duo completed was “Feel The Rush”, which has over 4 million views on “You Tube”. Unfortunately, Maintain had to grow up quickly as he became a father at the age of seventeen. Feeling he had no choice, Maintain took to the streets to generate money to support his new family. His passion for music seemed to be lost while his hunger for fast money grew. As everything happens for a reason, his fast lifestyle came to an abrupt stop. At the age of nineteen Maintain was arrested, then incarcerated for three and half years. While in prison the respect and loyalty he learned in “The Ranches” was forgotten by his crew. Maintain spent many nights frustrated with his life and feeling betrayed by the snitches in the streets. The only outlet he had was through his writing. Despite his circumstances, Maintain was able to stay in contact with his childhood friend Pleasure P. Once he was released Maintain went from being behind bars to writing and rapping his own songs. In 2007, he was eventually given the opportunity to showcase his talent in performances at the Rush, Hypnotize, and Late Night Special Tours. His first single "Look At My Ish" produced by Thunda Tracks is now available on iTunes as well as Rhapsody. Maintain’s "Fresh Out" vol.2 mixtape was recently released and has been circulating throughout the Southeastern region of the U.S. He has performed in numerous venues in Florida and Georgia which has helped acquired a solid fan base. Some of his accomplishments includes opening for Plies at Opium Hard Rock, he was featured in the Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, and his single has been played on 99 Jamz. Most recently, Maintain performed at the Haitian Compas Festival on May 15th 2010.
