NEWS October 28th, 2009: Starting on November 20th, tracking will begin for what will eventually become a full length debut album. We're thrilled to have Engineer/Producer Thomas Rosato at the helm for this project, which will be primarily recorded in Woodstock, to help make this record all that it possibly can be. More updates, including a full track list, release date, and video blog updates will be coming very soon. For now, we anticipate a January 2010 release date. BIO Ever since I was a little kid, I've always made my own little versions of everything. At a really young age, I would watch my Saturday morning kid shows on channel 5 and want to mimick the characters on the TV shows like The Power Rangers and The Ninja Turtles, but didn't have enough money to go out and buy all the action figures at the toy stores. So, instead I would get a few packs of construction paper and some glue and build my own little world with heroes, villains, and victims. At the end of each Saturday morning stretch, I'd have played out each episode in my head with my tiny makeshift characters, and despite it's cheap nature I'd remain content with what I'd created. It only made sense that I would do that when my interests shifted from cartoons to music as I got older. Today, at 23, times have changed a bit. Throughout a career that has thus far stretched about 5 years, I've been fortunate enough to have worked with some amazing musicians and producers in many different bands, gotten to play stages everywhere from The Knitting Factory's Main Stage to a slot on The Vans Warped Tour, and have even been given the amazing oppurtunity to record using some monumental vintage gear that was once used to record legends like David Bowie and The Police. Still, regardless of the clear quality and the huge sound that I've been blessed with getting on my more recent work, I still feel that "homemade" vibe every time I sit down to write a song or step into the studio to try and bring a dream alive while doing justice to my influences. I don't want to give this any sort of definition. The cast of characters I share this with will probably end up changing from time to time, as will the faces that grace the clubs and bars we play. The only constants will be the music, hopefully the people I'm lucky enough to call fans & friends, and the ability to sing along whether you hear the music in a loud full band setting or amongst a few close friends with an acoustic guitar at a party somewhere. My name is John, and this is my Makeshift Lullaby...
