About Mark W. Curran - Songwriter Mark W. Curran hails from the Philadelphia region of Pennsylvania, and was strongly influenced by the soulful R&B sounds of Philly, mixed with the then-pop top 40: The Beatles, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones. His father introduced him to Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett records, the radio introduced him to underground sixties psychadelia and hard rock, and his own interests drove him to the English beat groups as well as the more traditional sounds of the Fairport Convention, Renaissance and Richard and Linda Thompson. Soon hard rock was the anthem he lived to: Heart, Styx, Kansas, REO Speedwagon. But the sounds of folk-rock, country and bluegrass were never far from his heart. Local musicians and songwriters influenced him: Bruce Springsteen from the Jersey Shore, Rosemary Fallon, George Hallman, and Barry Westman. The West Coast sound of the Byrds and then The Eagles changed everything. With JD Souther, Don Henley, Jackson Browne penning thoughtful lyrics, and great groove groups like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers making it all sonically cosmic... He began playing guitar at the age of 18. He played drums professionally in area bands on the Eastern seaboard while learning guitar, and recorded his first demo at the age of 22. He moved to the West Coast in 1987 and opened his own recording studio, writing songs, recording bands, and making inroads into the music and film business. Today Curran is a concert promoter and music producer and continues to write, record and perform professionally in the Los Angeles area.
