In 2008, Masonic Weird, formed by Sean Lewis, Jesse Bearce and Yehuda McKay, to enforce a tight and soulful powerhouse sound in the metal scene of the Northwest.Their sound of heavily distorted guitars, thundering bass, and dynamic drumming is focused on feelings of loneliness, despair, confusion, and the anxious and steady approach of an apocalypse. While the sound of Masonic Weird is heavily somber, there are also moments of accomplishment and victory. Derived from the heavy hitting sounds of Helmet, Tool, and the Smashing Pumpkins, the Masonic Weird pull from other contemporary artists as well (Norma Jean, He Is Legend, and Mastadon), which stew into Masonic Weird's riff oriented doom rock.
