‘matria’ is conceived on April 22nd 2000, from the remains of the ‘Blinded Fear’ project.The remaining members, Rudy Martins and David Casenave create the main project, along with Bruno Davide and André Mendonça. Together, they explore Rock’s most symphonic waves, along the precious help from Susi Carromeu and Paulo Monteiro, through their first demo ‘A Moonlight Memory’. They have their debut on stage in 2002, on the ‘Vibrações Jovens’ festival, which would lead them to be the opening act for UHF, on the Moita’s Bikers Rally.In 2003, after losing Paulo and Susi, matria are reborn in a more heavy and raw Rock, along with the songs from their second demo ‘Escape From Reality’, featuring shows on again the ‘Vibrações Jovens’ festival, the Moita’s Bikers Rally and CRI.After some very difficult times, with the constant entry and leaving of new band members (including the actual drummer Pedro Pereira), matria reunite again in 2006, in order to continue the project they left in stand-by. They offer some gigs, reissuing most of the old songs, and including some new stuff.In 2007, the band suffers a major setback, with Bruno leaving the band for business reasons, and recruits bass player David Almeida, and keyboard player João Morgado, to foreclose the band’s core. They record the band’s first LP, while giving away some gigs, such as in Moita’s Rocklab and Alcaçer do Sal’s Youth Week.At the present time, matria are firmly promoting their album.
