Matt Scarfone's solo career has been many years in the making. It was clear to all from an early age that Matt would be an extremely talented musician. Matt Scarfone's solo career has been many years in the making. It was clear to all from an early age that Matt would be an extremely talented musician. At the young age of 12 years old, Matt was named lead snare drummer of the Ontario chapter of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Once Matt reached his high school years, the groundwork had been laid. Matt began playing with musicians 3-5 years older than him in a group called Deaf Cherry, a six piece pop/rock outfit that reached the final round of Emergenza, a competition featuring over 250 bands from across Ontario. Deaf Cherry would lead him to other opportunities that included opening up for Hanson and Alana Myles. Matt also went on to back up Ronny Hawkins' daughter for a short period of time before deciding to pursue his career as a singer/songwriter
