Biography

"When people ask me what I do for a living, I have a bundle of ways to respond. I could say I'm a college student, or that I'm an avid video gamer. But instead, I tell them that I rap. That's something I feel is central in my life, more than a lot of things."For MC Larny, a MC hailing from the suburban community of Northborough, MA, dedication is his watchword. Ever since his freshman year in high school, MC Larny has been the one-man show of the music he creates, handing a majority of production and conceptualization for his music, as well as writing all the lyrics to his songs."To be honest, the music to me, is something deeper than just a song with a hook, 3 verses and a beat. It's a personal bond, because it's something that I built from the ground up, that I saw all the way through from beginning to end."Larny started out freestyling for friends in the hallways, classrooms, and cafeterias, for anyone willing to listen. Eventually, in 2005, he contemplated actually recording songs he had written, and within 3 weeks, a rough demo was created. Within 3 years, MC Larny has independently released 2 full length LP's, an EP, and demo. And this August, Larny plans to add another LP to that list: Modern Day Madness, a 10 track full-length album, produced by DETOUR 45's Chris D'amico."This LP is representative of the past year and a half of my life, some great points mixed in with a plethora of painful moments. It was probably the toughest to write, but also the one that came together to form a cohesive whole the quickest. Chris brought out the best in me during the recording, he's kinda the reason why I'm still performing, why I didn't call it quits a while back."Clocking in at a brief 38 minutes, Modern Day Madness is perhaps the most personal album of his young career."When I started out writing this album, I felt as if I would be lying to myself, my fans and everyone else by not telling it "as is", that is, not being real and explaining what happened during the past few months. It was tough, but I finally tapped into my emotions and wrote how I was feeling at that point."An example of this personal song-writing is in the lead single "Young & Stupid", regarding a staple of modern music: love."The song is sort of the anti-love song. It's got the components of a love song, but instead of fantasies fulfilled, it's along the lines of dreams denied. It's about someone who comes into your life when you hit a real low point, and with their presence, pulls you out, and in due time, you fall in love, only to learn it was unrequited love all along.""Pretty much, when it comes to music, there's only one rule: No limitations. Period. I don't try and get pigeonholed into one type, I try to branch out."
