Breanna Watson, better known as "Mellow-dy",attains one of God’s most precious gifts-that is, the gift of singing and composing music. At the age of 5, Breanna had been on the Children’s Choir at Cooper City Church. Shortly after, she had moved her church location, where she continued to do what she loves and does best. Breanna actively participated in talent shows, earning the recognition of local audiences, who deemed her with the potential to be a future musical artist. .. .. At only the 3rd grade, Bre’s parents had bought her her first kids’ laptop from “Toys R Us” on Christmas Eve. It was on this very laptop that Breanna realized she had a natural talent for composing songs. She wrote her first song on this laptop, entitled, “Jealsousy”. Here is where her mom had noticed her passion for music and decided to take her for piano lessons. She was skillfully taught by Ms. Davis, her music teacher at her school, Broward Estates Elementary. .. ..By the time Bre reached the 4th grade, she had formed an amateur singing group, named G.R.A.C.E, an acronym with no meaning. The sound of grace just sounded enticing and sweet, so she went with it. This group consisted of her elementary friends, Brittany, Ciara and Sonsearay, who used to perform talent shows for their class at the ending of every Friday, even until the 5th grade, where they coincidently still had the same classes together. In these classroom talent shows, Breanna and her 3 friends would sing popular songs from The Cheetah Girls, a group that was ever-presently popular in those days. All the 5th grade classes (who had been on their best behaviors), would come and enjoy the performances, in which Breanna would dance and sing, imitating the behavior of the Cheetah girls. At this point, nothing in the world could please her more than music itself. .. ..She then attended Urban League in grade 6 for summer school, where she continued to indulge in talent shows, dances, Old School lip-singing reenactments, where she had playfully imitated artists such as Tina Turner and Michael Jackson. Stage fright was never a weak point for Breanna. Whenever a talent show was mentioned, she came running. Staff members didn’t think twice when they needed someone to sing the Star Spangled Banner. She continued to pursue her passion. Friends started pulling at her in all directions when they wanted to sing a duet or trio for a performance, knowing that she wouldn’t turn down the offer. She sang lead in her school choir. She made her first studio song with Roamer Muzik Group, “Last Love”, where she came up with the stage name, Melody. Melody- the only thing that could ever fully capture her heart. .. ..High school was the highlight of Breanna’s life, where she fell in love with Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu’s fashion of music. She started writing deep, heart-racing poetry, and started singing inspirational and R&B music. High school is where she had the sudden epiphany that nothing matters to her more than singing. As for future careers, nothing could fit in Breanna life as well as music. It was her passion, and apparently, the only thing she really knew how to do. Immediately, she started dreaming of one day becoming a famous singer, praying, and anticipating for her dream to one day, be a reality. She cannot settle for anything less. ..
