WWW.MIDSTREAMROCK.COM Midstream is a rock band created by Pat Donovan in 2004. The band is composed of three members; Patrick Donovan, François Huppé and Étienne Fortin. Midstream’s story began in 2000, only 11 years old, Pat Donovan begged his mother to buy him an electric guitar after having seen Offspring live in New-York city. The incomes of Pat’s family being fairly limited the idea was not welcomed right away. With his known perseverance and passion, he finally received an electric guitar for Christmas. He completely fell in love for his right handed Yamaha (Pat is lefty). Playing the guitar was Pat’s way to express himself and fly away in his own world, he practiced every time he had the opportunity. After a while he proposed his best friend Étienne to buy a bass-guitar and their dream was to create what would become the greatest band of all time. Étienne was thrilled to start a band with his best friend because he was used to rock music, trough his older brother, he was listening to AC/DC and Nirvana all time. After begging his parents, they finally bought him a bass-guitar. The two friends began practicing several times a week and they created many different rock bands that never worked out due mostly to the lack of motivation of the other band members. Between 2001 and 2004, they studied every aspect of Punk and Rock music (Offspring, Blink-182, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Rhapsody). Pat was getting addicted to guitar solos and learned quite a few of them. He started to take guitar lessons with Simon Fox and learned to develop his abilities. His idols were Yngwie Malmsteen, Marty Friedman and Jason Backer whom he tried to imitate and surpass... In 2004, Midstream was born. Étienne and Patrick found two motivated partners, John Nolet and Nick Abbatielo, and decided to record their first demo at Unika Studio. Having three good songs in their pocket they started to give shows across Quebec. The band was noticed because of its guitar solos and their overwhelming energy on stage. In 2005 the band participated to two important contests, “Envol et Macadam” and “Emergenza”. The judges were astonished to see such young musicians surpass older band and Midstream was chosen to perform live at the Dagobert (Quebec’s most popular bar) for the grand finale. The boys were only 16 years old and had to leave the place right after the show. Pat received the distinction for the best guitar player of the night. During the same year the band decided to record a more professional demo and worked with David Gendron and NewRock Studio. That’s how “On the Road”, “Even if I Die” and “Runaway” were created. A little after and for unclear reasons, John and Nick decided to quit the band to go live in Mexico. With their growing popularity and ambition, it was the perfect time to find real motivated musicians and to create the final line-up of the band. Pat and Ets met Frank, a qualified drummer that showed much interest for the band. Only one jam session was needed to put fire to the music and to make the band shine. Steven (Steam Industries), Frank ‘s best friend and talented guitarist joined the group later on. For the band members the group reached his highest peak. The band burns up everything on his way, with their amazing solos and unique performance on stage, they easily got everyone’s attention. Midstream performs in many contests and is still considered as one of the best rock band of Quebec and Canada. Whether they would play at “Dagobert” or Montreal’s own “Foufounes Électriques”, the “Global Battle of the Bands” or the “Omnium du Rock”, Midstream knows how to please its fans in each and every appearance. The girls can’t stop yelling as loud as they can as soon as they hear their great success “Run Away”. After five years on Quebec’s scene, Midstream took a short pause to establish a strategic plan so they can come back with power and to take their rightful place into the world. Between work and creation hours, Pat decided that it would be the perfect time to exploit his potential as producer and sound engineer. He decides to take a course in sound engineering to bring his ideas to life on his own. By combining hard work and intense efforts he develops remarkable aptitudes in no time. After putting together is own recording studio, he wrote and mixed David Verret’s also known as “Minde”(a very good local artist) first album. His music is influenced by pop, hip hop and rock. After a positive conclusion, Pat finally felt ready to produce Midstream’s first album and Frank decided to broaden his knowledge in web programming to be able to take care of all the computer business related to the group. 2010 represents an important evolution for Midstream: New album, the signing of a contract with Michel Loranger (Essential Publishing), new songs, new shows, new website, new clips and more... Can’t Stop Calling was produced by 360 Entertainment and will be released next fall. Midstream, best rock band of Quebec is now available on your MP3.
