MISTULA is the Philippines’ first virtual band. With four unique dolls as members, the band comes alive on the internet through their Official Website, an ongoing collaboration of musicians, artists, writers and web designers aimed to showcase different facets of Filipino culture. The band’s regularly updated weblogs chronicle the members’ virtual lives. Ever since their creation, the band has gained a worldwide following due to their unique and truly seamless fusion of music, graphic art, literature, photography and other art forms revolving around themes of idolatry and cultural commentary- their Official Fanclub, The Black Rosary, attracting more and more devotees from all parts of the world daily. Mistula has appeared in various music websites and publications in the Philippines, the US, and Germany. Most recently, the band has gained recognition as the first Filipino band to ever win a place in the International Play & Rate Competition of Overplay.com, a UK-based music site.
