Her first gift is her innate ability to feel every emotion to its maximum potential, and love with all of her heart. Her second gift is her delightfully unique and angelic voice that has the ability to make people say ‘wow’ when they hear her. When she combines both these gifts, the resulting music becomes an emotional and empowering journey for the listener. Every song and every performance from Misty brings you into a world that celebrates some of the most meaningful things in life; the things you cannot see or touch – hope, love, faith, laughter and music. The Story of Misty Lee Olsen... Misty Lee Olsen grew up a natural performer, and was always surrounded by love and music. Along with her mother and two brothers, music has been the only constant and driving force in Misty’s 25 years. It is her passion, her dream and now her profession. Growing up performing at various family functions and at smaller local venues in Ontario, Misty always dreamed of becoming a professional singer so she could bring her music to the masses and inspire others through song. It wasn’t long before she decided to make her dream a reality, and pursued a full time career in country music. After making the 2004 regional finals of the famed “Nashville Star” TV talent search, Misty began writing and performing as often as she could, and caught the attention of three time Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) winning producer of the year, Joel Feeney (‘Nothing Bout Love Makes Sense’ - Leann Rimes). Feeney wanted to produce Misty’s debut CD, and Misty started writing material with some of the best Nashville-based songwriters for it. The debut album, ‘The Story of a Girl,’ is comprised of eight songs co-written by Misty, with the remaining two songs featuring some other well-known artists, including Canadians Jason Blaine and Steven Lee Olsen, and featuring a powerful ballad written by Luke Laird and Sarah Buxton (‘Stupid Boy’ – Keith Urban). Shortly after, Canadian-based Royalty Records, Inc. signed Misty to an album distribution deal for the debut CD. Around the same time, Misty was invited to perform at the 2007 CCMA Country Music Week—New Artist Showcase, a critical endorsement by an industry panel of insiders that solidifies Misty as ‘one-to-watch’ in the country music industry. Previous showcase performers include Shania Twain, George Canyon and recently acclaimed group, The Higgins. It was about this time the Nashville music community started paying close attention to Misty and her music, and she secured a publishing deal with Songscape Music LLC, a significant accomplishment for the songstress. In July 2008, Misty's heartfelt ballad about unrequited love - "Stay Away"- was featured in the Hallmark Channel, made-for-TV movie "Every Second Counts," which aired to up to 85 million households in the U.S. This significant achievement garnered her noteworthy attention south of the Canadian border. Misty spent most of 2008 and 2009 touring between Ontario and western Canada, performing and building her fan base leading up to the album release in March 2010. Misty’s first single, ‘A Little Bit of Love,’ generated considerable radio play across Canada in its advance release; a huge feat for a new-to-the-scene recording artist. It also captured the attention of fans, and left them hungry for a follow up radio single. ‘The Story of a Girl,’ the title track from Misty’s debut album, is the newest song to Canadian country radio, and is already a sensation with fans across the country. Misty’s debut album, ‘The Story of a Girl,’ is a charming compilation of beautiful ballads and energetic up-tempo songs that bring the listener into Misty’s world of love, hope, heartbreak and self-realization. It is a revealing and relatable look at the powerful journey of a young woman, and the compelling music has the potential to help, heal and empower listeners.
