Founder, CEO, and Producer of Mo Beatz Ent., Maurice “Reese” Stewart (A.K.A. Young Sarge), has always had a deep passion for music. In high school, he and Jay P would draw the attention of crowds during lunch as they would pound out beatz on the lunchroom tables. In 2004, they went to the next level by purchasing recording equipment and beat programs. Finally, in January of 2009, Mo Beatz Ent. became a licensed and operable music production company.
Initially, Reese began by creating beatz and recording and producing artists. His early artists include emcees like Dre, Skrew, Redkottboy, and HB, and his R&B sensation, Kywi. Some of the first songs, such as St. Louis, Damn Shame, Power Up, and Everything, were released in early 2006 on underground mix tapes in the St. Louis area. These original songs have gained recognition and earned a wide fan base. Since then, a limited number of songs have been released to the public through mix tapes, You Tube, Myspace, and the official Mo Beatz website. These too, have obtained a widespread appreciation from listeners.
Reese, along with the rest of Mo Beatz, has come a long way from the days in the lunchroom, but the fascination and love for music remains constant. Since the organization of the company five years ago, Mo Beatz has acquired a number of new, talented people.
President and Producer, Josh “Jay-P” Parker, a lifelong friend of Reese, has been with Mo Beatz from the beginning, and helped Reese start up the company. Jay P has been making beatz and helping with the production of the music as well. He is also in charge of event scheduling, promotions, etc., which can be tracked through the Events page on the website.
Jodi Welsh, CFO and Manager, has been working with the company since late 2007. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, she is responsible for the business aspect of Mo Beatz by tracking finances and ensuring all actions are in line with legal and business regulations.
Mo Beatz current artists include Skrew, Kywi, B, Murda Mike, Redkottboy, Lil' Mike, Hambeezie, EP, HB, Dre, and Jazz. Video production is provided under the company name of Raized Rotten, which can be viewed on You Tube by using the search term “Redkottboy”.
