With origins in New Jersey, Ivory Thompson has solidified himself as a rapper/producer in the hip-hop scene of Stamford, Connecticut. At a mere twenty years old, Ivory’s likeness has been seen in the words of Complex magazine, as well as almost twenty producer credits on a number of albums. The tall, slim kid from Jersey is a force of untapped talent, in a small city, with a lot to say. Bred from two parents soaked into the music arts, Ivory’s destiny seemed inevitable. Yet, his influence by hip-hop was not a given. Unanimously, his parents felt the aggression in hip-hop was too much and kept him from it as an adolescent. When the world was immersed in Biggie and TuPac, Ivory was into old school R&B and House music. Finding a liking towards Baltimore Club music, he felt it had a tempo to keep you moving and the complexity of a true story. Both elements, infused with hip-hop, can be found in Ivory’s body of work. Noted by many as one third of the former group, Class of ’89, Ivory, Chris Black, and the late DJ Genius were in talks with EMI/Capitol Records, on the verge of a signed contract. Due to business misdealing, the group ended in the summer of 2009. Ivory saw this as his opportunity to go forth as a solo artist and preserve his creative expression. From there, he went on to rap and produce on a number of mixtapes including on Conrizzle's "A Breath Of Fresh Air" Album, Nickelus F's "R.A.R.E" Mixtape, and his own Mr. Ivory Snow presents "The Haunting In Connecticut", hosted by DJ Genuis. In light of the immediate goal of making it in the music industry, Ivory looks for longevity in the area of music composition. Currently involved in piano and music theory practices he seems himself veering towards composing music for major motion pictures. Recent projects, Till Death Do Us Part & The Death Of Ivory Thompson will be released July 2010 and August 2010 respectfully.
