NASTASIA GRIFFIN Born Ashley Nastasia Griffin (stage name “Nastasia”) on October 27, in Miami; Nastasia’s father first introduced her to music at an incredibly early age. She wrote her first song at the age of 5. Nastasia was brought up in the church since birth and began singing in a youth choir. Because her voice was so burly and prominent, she progressed to the adult choir where she became one of the lead singers. It was then she realized the intensity of her vocals and how they would be an asset in her future. Nastasia’s devotion and passion for music was inevitable. She would always set standards for herself by practicing songs by vocal heavyweights like Xscape, Gladys Knight, Yolanda Adams, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston. What inspires Nastasia first and foremost is her grandmother. Her grandmother is a single black woman who has accomplished many things in life. She always shares and inculcates the values of a woman. Tina Turner has also been an inspiration in Nastasia’s life musically because of her strong, exquisite voice. Tina’s strength and wisdom to be persistent no matter what a person may be going through defines valor and poise. Last but not least GOD, his love and mercy keeps her going from day to day. Knowing what Jesus went through while still keeping the faith inspires her the most. While growing up, Nastasia has performed in various events for special causes. She has performed in seven musicals at the WC Reid Center in North Carolina where she played the main characters of five of the musicals and wrote lyrics for many of the theme songs of some of the plays she performed in. In 2006, Nastasia wrote the theme song for a musical call “Daddy, where are you?” Also, in 2007, Nastasia became assistant director of a play called “Tough Love” which was orchestrated by WC Reid Center in North Carolina. It was always her dream to move to a big city to pursue her dreams. Applying to college at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, was her way out to pursue what instigates her of becoming an artist/songwriter. Moving to Atlanta was the beginning of broadening her horizons. She was no longer under her parent’s scope and was free to get out and explore what her heart set out for her of becoming an artist. Later that year, Nastasia met with a production team called TrakKillers. TrakKillers consisted of producers and musicians with massive talent. They introduced her to the music industry and showed her how talented she was in songwriting. It was then she became the first lady of TrakKillers and began songwriting for other artists. With exceptional thanks to Knotarized Entertainment and D Clax, Nastasia was blessed with the opportunity to write the theme song for a reality show called “Social Light” which will air nationwide in September 2008. She also featured on two of Knotarized Entertainment mix tapes that are played across Atlanta in both clubs and radio stations. It has been such a blessing for Nastasia to work with some of the world’s most prominent top name people in the music industry.
