Bernesha’s entertainment bug was ignited by her father at age 5. Her father is a Caribbean wide known calypsonian & band owner. He would bring her on stage to dance during his performances and even let her dance while his band would play at different functions. At age 6, She then entered in to the local calypso tournament and lost. However, she went on to see success by recording 2 songs which became an automatic hit. Although, as a 8 year old child she was popular and the youngest calypso singer with two hit songs in the territory, music was put on hold as she decided that she no longer wanted to be a calypso singer, even then at a young age she knew exactly what she wanted. In her junior high school years she made another attempt at music but this time it was a totally different direction. She was no longer singing calypso music but now taking on the urban American break through music, Rap/ Hip hop.. Later on that year, at the age of 13 Nesha met some local young artists like herself that rapped and wrote songs together, and soon became part of their group. After agreeing to join the group of young MC’s, that collaboration became her musical outlet for her pre-teen years. Again, music came to a halt when she realized that the person who promised to help the young rappers was only unfortunately scamming them. At this point Music was now just an enjoyment and an unreachable dream she can only wish to accomplish.
Now Bernesha’s focus was turned on her education. After graduating from Charlotte Amalie high school in 2005 she decided to attend the local university. Additionally, she took on another roll. In March 2010 Bernesha welcomed her “motivation” in to this world, her son. Then In May 2011 she graduated from University of the Virgin Islands attaining a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing, then in 2011 she became certified in Real Estate and was on her way to getting her real estate license only proving that nothing can hold her back once she had her mind made up.
Yes, she is multifaceted. A mother, a college student, career woman, and now her newest role Bernesha the “Artist”. With a father that is a Caribbean wide known calpysonian, to a sister that is an aspiring singer, right down to a brother that is a DJ/ Rapper ; music being very prevalent in her family there was no curing the music bug for Bernesha aka Nesha Te’ree, it came back in full effect. Like many, Bernesha had horrible life changing experiences some of which forced her to act out and even was then prescribed to speak to a counselor. Ironically, the advice that she got from that counselor on how to handle stress and face internal fears is to let someone else deal with it, meaning an alter ego. This was a great idea however, the alter ego never left. Now these days “she” (the alter ego) is now known as Nesha Te’ree. At the time the name was created there was no thought of a music career. But, the purpose of Nesha Te’ree helped to mold Bernesha into who this “New Woman” is today the lady know as “Nesha Te’ree”.
Four months after having her son she decided, she is going to rap. After letting a close friend hear her the friend later introduced Nesha to a producer at that point it was evident that Nesha Te’ree had to answer this calling. With a BA degree, already mother, and having a career job life now seemed like it was telling her now is the time. Ever since then, Nesha has been full throttle with Nikes laced chasing her dream to stardom. With a buzz worthy mixtape titled “Anger management ” soon to be released she has been successful thus far and her efforts has not been in vain. Maybe, there is a word to describe this multifaceted, mother, student, career woman. She is a superstar and her name is rightfully so “Nesha Te’ree”.
