Nicole Boggs’ music blends soulful expression with technical precision. She draws inspiration from a wide array of musical genres that have found their way into her heart including jazz, pop, rock, folk, r&b, funk, blues, and soul. Nicole Boggs’ music blends soulful expression with technical precision. She draws inspiration from a wide array of musical genres that have found their way into her heart including jazz, pop, rock, folk, r&b, funk, blues, and soul. Major influences include Fiona Apple, Lauryn Hill, Beth Hart, Patty Griffin, Amy Winehouse, and Nikka Costa. In the process of discovering her sound, Nicole has found the roots of childhood favorites such as the simplicity of Tom Petty’s melodies, the lyrical prowess of Carole King, and the heart wrenching honesty of Bonnie Raitt creeping into her voice. She finds ideas for her songs in relationships, books, philosophy, and nature. While attending the Denver School of the Arts, Nicole had the opportunity to perform with artists such as Josh Groban, Diane Reeves, and Don Lewis while furthering her music education. She was also able to pursue her love of reading and writing majoring in vocal music with a minor in creative writing. Motivated to take her musical ability to the next level, Nicole moved to Boston in the fall of 2007 to attend Berklee College of Music. As a Pro-Music major she is focusing her efforts on songwriting, performance, and contemporary writing and production. In the past two years Nicole has had the pleasure of performing with artists such as Me’shell Ndegeocello, Siedah Garrett, and Joyce Kennedy. Being a student at Berklee, Nicole has been exposed to new styles of music, falling in love with jazz and blues. Nicole has extensive studio experience including singing backgrounds and a duet on 12 songs from Nashville artist David Fair's 2008 release I Like You as well as Denver artist Ryan Chrys’ upcoming EP The Unknown. Prior to entering Berklee, Nicole was chosen to sing on a project for Recording magazine produced by Justin Peacock and the Hook Factory as well as several songs produced by Berklee Alum Fernando Curiel. In 2008 she had recordings of 2 songs from an collection of early demos released on a compilation featuring Amy Winehouse, Duffy, and Ayo on the AUR label. Nicole aspires to piece together her diverse influences and create her own identifiable sound.
