THE XYLOPHONE YACHT ZOMBIES Who are they? THE XYLOPHONE YACHT ZOMBIES (XYZ) are a random and bizarre cult band who have deliberately decided to shun massive fortune and fame by looking to be the last in the record store with their X listing. Yes! they admit they did toy with extreme avarice by seriously considering other names, like AAA Aardvark (Triple “A” Aardvark) in order to be the first in the store. Luckily, their alter-egos are now secretly hidden in London, amongst the vast anonymous plain of grey middle class England, in order to adhere to the purity of the Surrealists’ code. Please note, gentle reader, some of the songs were written using UTA random principles and XYZ are always striving to be original. If not prolific. This recording features: Steve Moore, Guitar and Vocals, Peter Eacott, Guitar, Kevin Thorne Keyboards, Mark Wheeler Bass Guitar, Steve Butcher, Drums and exotic percussion and features: Snay Kai and Thought Thief all the way from the East End of London and Stars of Dark Angle the UK's most intelligent Hip Hop crew with a spontaneous rap on the Single LONDON TOWN...How cool is that....On XYZ EP recorded 19th June 2010 Owen Eacott son of Pete delivered some real cool lead guitar and Tony Butcher teamed up with his brother Steve to drive the band forward with total drums. The first EP was recorded at Antenna Studios Crystal Palace/Upper Norwood SE19 in September 2008 by Steffan. He also Engineered EP2 on 19th June 2010... Where are XYZ from? Based in way down South London town, in the United Kingdom. They are a Rock/regressive group, formed from the ashes ofMad Acid Enterprise. XYZ are really Steve Moore’s by invitation only band. Therefore, given Steve’s work ethic They come together rarely to perform material mostly created in the early eighties by Mad Acid Enterprise. Mad Acid Enterprise (MAE) was a musical creativity experiment started on Saturday afternoons by Kevin Thorne (Lowrey Organ) , Steve Moore (Vocals and Shergold Guitar)and Mark Wheeler (Fender Jazz Bass). Later Colin Smith joined the band on drums and they had to move out of Kevin’s Front room (where the organ was - nice piece of furniture). The band reached their hiatus when Steve Moore decided not to continue with MAE, as the other members wanted to practice more often and become polished! And thus Kevin, Mark,Colin and Morris Mulryan did continue and cut a really neat demo record at Air studios, Catford using MAE material. Eventually Steve teamed up with his long standing mate Pete Eacott (ex Mutton Jeff/Shagband) on Fender Telecaster guitar and started the Xylophone Yacht Zombies by invitation only band. Pete forms the backbone of the band and uses a wide range of skills including his classical training to good effect. The original lines up featured saxophones and Pete Brazier is a regular invitee. Over the years The Butcher Brothers, Steve and Tony have alternated on drums/percussion. Former Men Are Dead and now the engine room of the prog rock band Tinyfish composer/guitarist Simon Godfrey drummed at a XYZ Rogue Studios, Bermondsey, South London, session once. Kevin was happy to join XYZ and provides mellow cosmic keyboards using his ironing board as a Yamaha organ stand. Bob Higgins, a selfless and gifted guitarist plays bass for XYZ, so that others can create. How old are these guys? Very old - Thats why they can’t tour. There might be an XYZ/MAE convention one day if demand continues. Probably in New York.
