No Compromise, more commonly known as NoCo, is an alternative rock trio from Silver Spring, Maryland. The band's sound often draws comparisons to Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters, and Green Day, as well as edgier grunge acts. NoCo fuses driving rhythms and distinctive guitar lines with pop-oriented vocals to set their sound apart from other alternative rock imitators. The band displays a diverse sonic palate with songs catchy enough to appeal to fans of lighter genres, yet other tracks that reveal the group's metal and hardcore influences. The trio initially formed at the University of Maryland in 2002 with guitarist Jack Kwait-Blank and bassist Justin Fry. William Bowen joined the lineup in 2006 on drums, bringing heavier influences to the existing pop-punk sound. In early 2007 NoCo released a five song EP, "Pull the Plug," representing the first collaboration between the current members of the lineup. The album instantly drew praise from fans and critics alike for its tight sound and universal appeal."This EP is very impressive. The sound is heavy enough to appeal to fans of grunge, but with vocals that are more power-pop oriented. It's a good mixture, and the band sounds very tight and confident. Don't be surprised if No Compromise becomes the next big thing in old-school alternative rock." — David Schrimpf, Jefitoblog.Craig "Bam-Bam" Stegall of Away Team concurred, writing "Solid and pleasing performances from all three musicians and a very good mix of music make this a standout release for '07."Although the band has proved they can produce solid tracks in the studio, NoCo prides itself on its energetic live performances. "We don't go out there every night to just 'put on another show.' We want everyone in the audience to feel something because that's what music is supposed to be about," lead singer and bassist Justin Fry explains. NoCo feels very strongly about fan involvement and believes that ultimately a loyal fan base will be the key to their continued success. NoCo's latest CD 'This Could Be You' will be released April 27th, 2008.
