Due to domestic violence endured by his mother, both mother and son relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in the early 1990s in search of better livelihood. It was while attending high school in which S.L. Perion fell in love with hip-hop music. He admired artist for their creativity and the lyrical imagery they conveyed. He never thought about writing or performing music until the conclusion of his high school years. Before then, you could find him on the back of the school bus wearing headphones blasting his favorite artist and rapping each bar word for word. This is where S.L. Perion studied the different variations of hip-hop music without knowing that he had a hidden passion for it.
