Off The Cuff began its musical journey on February 1, 2002, at the World Café in Forest, Virginia. During the next seven years we’ve played a few hundred gigs and entertained a few thousand listeners. Some memorable moments were: performing as the opening act for Delbert McClinton and being voted the best band in Central Virginia in 2005. Our music is a blend of many songs from the 1950’s up to the 2000’s. Included are beach music, Motown, soul, rock, blues, country and a bit of bluegrass. We all sing and feature lots of harmony. We rearrange some of the original songs slightly, using our vocal harmonies and even sing horn parts to add to the fullness of our sound. Our signature song is “Magic Moment”, and it represents our first attempt at an Off The Cuff rearrangement. We realized in our younger years that our calling in life was to join the large family of artists known as Musicians. Our fathers, other relatives and friends, influenced our choice by their own involvement in this family. They, and many others, left the footprints for us to follow. We owe much to the music makers who came before us and to the ones who play alongside of us. We hope to leave our own musical footprints in which others may choose to walk. Finally, there have been many magic moments during our time together. The people we have met, the places we have visited, the songs we’ve played, the instruments we feel a kinship to, and the compliments we’ve received have enriched our lives greatly. When we sing those special harmonies, hear the guitar strings bend and blend together and feel the fullness of the piano and organ melodies lacing together, we experience the greatest sensation a music lover could possibly have; goosebumps! And we all know when the goosebumps appear, we’re having a “Magic Moment”.
