Our Star's the Sun

About Our Star's the Sun

Wichita, KS

Our Star's the Sun hails from Wichita, KS. Started from the in tact pieces of a previous project, original members Daniel Herbert (vox), Josh McDaniel (drums), and Jack Barnhart (guitar) made it their mission to write music which better displayed their passion for music and its complexities. The trio started by adding Seth McDaniel, McDaniel's younger brother, on keys. In search for a bassist the band resorted to ads at local music stores and a little bit of prayer to find a bassist who fit. It took only one applicant to find who they needed, and Geoff Winningham was added to make the band a solid 5 piece. After Josh left the band added Austin Witherspoon to drums.

Citing influences spanning genres from hardcore, to jazz, to pop/punk, to indie, to just about anything the 5 hear make noise, Our Star's the Sun shares an eclectic musical taste and prefers to keep listeners guessing what genre they prescribe to. The music they know and love is all that matters. The band brings a uniquely influenced, uniquely crafted sound. Never writing songs to sound like their other songs. It's not about sounding what they are supposed to sound like, but sounding like what that song is supposed to sound like; what that song is meant to be. Natural writing brings out the best in them, nothing forced.

The band debuted its self-released first record, "The Whitewashed EP" in fall 2010 digitally and to CD. Our Star's the Sun has a mission to spread their music and their message. A message of life's challenges and the inevitable battles of this world.

"I'm whitewashed to disguise the things I love to hide, like the picket fence outside, with its rotten wood behind the white" -The Walter Scott
